Why we
started

Arellis Energy was founded on a simple observation: South Australia generates more rooftop solar per person than almost anywhere on earth, but the regional grid can't store it. The big transmission-scale batteries take years to plan and connect. Meanwhile, country towns need storage now - close to where the power is made and used. So we set out to build it differently: a portfolio of community-scale batteries, developed by locals, hosted by local landowners, connected into the local network.

Today we have more than 20 sites in development across eight South Australian regions - from the Barossa and the Adelaide Hills to the Limestone Coast, the Murraylands, the Mid North and the Yorke Peninsula - representing a development program of more than $130 million.

We're South Australian owned and operated. Our team lives here. When we sign a 20-year agreement with a landowner, we're not a head office in another state - we're neighbours, and we plan to act like it for the life of every project.
