What We Do

A small
footprint

A community-scale battery is a compact energy storage facility - typically around 5MW, about the footprint of a large farm shed - that connects directly into SA Power Networks' local distribution lines. During the day it charges on abundant, low-cost solar energy. In the evening, when the sun sets and demand peaks, it releases that stored energy back into the local network. Each of our batteries stores enough energy every day to power a country town through the evening.

What We Do

Heavy lifting,
quietly

Because they connect at the distribution level, our batteries can be approved and built far faster than transmission-scale projects, they strengthen the local lines they connect to, and they sit lightly on the land - quiet, unmanned (but constantly monitored), low-profile and fully fenced, with the surrounding land continuing to work as it always has.

Technology You Can Rely On

Tier-one hardware,
engineered for SA summers

Our team brings deep experience across energy markets, network connections, planning and project delivery. We select proven, grid-scale battery technology from tier-one manufacturers, with layered safety systems including continuous monitoring, thermal management and independent fire detection.

  • ~5MW nameplate

Sized to matter to the local grid, small enough to sit on a corner of a rural property.

  • Layered safety

Continuous monitoring, thermal management, independent fire detection and suppression, and physical separation between units.

  • 24/7 remote monitoring

If anything moves outside normal parameters, the battery shuts itself down automatically and our operations team is alerted immediately.

How A Project Happens

Seven steps,
start to finish

  1. We find land near suitable network capacity.

  2. Before anything is signed, we assess your site at no cost and with no obligation. Our team reviews the land, its access and its distance to the local SA Power Networks infrastructure, then checks whether the nearby network has the capacity to connect a community battery. You will get a clear, plain-English view of whether your site is suitable and what the next steps would look like.
